Grandma Goetzka grew up in the place this painting is based on. It is where she learned to play piano and went to church. It is where she met grandpa and where they got married.
For my birthday this month I went to Grand Ledge to go climbing with friends. At the end of our adventure I gathered up some water from Sandstone Creek so that I could get home and start making a painting about these rocks.
There are carvings from 80+ years ago. We've seen snakes, ferns, geese, witch hazel, snails, firs, and endless wildlife to appreciate.
